Paul Blackmore recently competed in the triathlon World Age Group Sprint championships in Cozumel, Mexico, the same place, and heat, where Alistair helped Jonny Brownlee cross the finish line in the triathlon Grand Final.

Paul, who is a level 2 coach with Horsham Tri Club, finished 9th in his age group, out of 82, and was the first of the 20 athletes representing Great Britain. Athletes from around the world, including USA and Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and of course Mexico completed the 750 metre swim, 20 kilometre bike ride and 5 kilometre run. Paul finished in a personal best time for the distance, with the 5th fastest run split helping him to finish in 1 hour 2 minutes and 59 seconds.

Paul will be helping to coach several Horsham Tri Club members next year who are aiming to compete in the 2017 championships, a little nearer to home in Rotterdam, Holland.
