This gruelling annual race is based at Denbies wine estate in Dorking and consists of 3 legs. The first being the lung busting 270 steps to the top of Box Hill totalling 4.5 miles this year run by Alex Smith , the second being the gentler but longer run (6 miles) to Norbury Park was taken on by Tom Payne followed by the shortest leg to Ranmore Common tackled by Jamie Newton. This year’s event was a particularly cold and windy day but luckily the rain held off.
Smith quickly gained a lead and this was built upon over the 3 legs with the team finishing first, over 13 minutes up on the second placed team.
Horsham Tri Club member Michael Dargue also completed the 14.4 mile race as a solo entry and came an amazing 14th out of a field of 171 competitors and said the event was tough but he can’t wait to compete again next year.
