My background mostly consists of a list of events/sports that I’ve wanted to complete (a mental tick list) & this has led me to triathlon. I’m now hooked & want to pass on all I have learned in the few years I’ve been competing.

I’d run the odd marathon before getting into triathlons, always with the aim of just finishing & always with friends. My biggest achievement is finishing an ultra marathon (65 miles!) and as I am not a natural runner it shows what can be achieved with a bit of training.

I don’t have a sporting background, but just enjoy taking part. I cycled aironman finish crop lot when younger , so I am most at home on a saddle rolling down muddy tracks on a mountain bike. I even completed my first triathlon on a downhill mountain bike (proof that you don’t need any specialist or expensive equipment to join in) & when there’s a Sunday ride with mtb’s I’ll be the first one to strip of the lycra and get back into the shorts & trainers for some easy going trail riding.

I’ve been a member of the club since early 2012 & in that time the new experiences have come thick & fast – I have already completed the UK ironman a few 70.3’s and am aiming for a mountain terrain ultra marathon for 2014.
