Well where do I start. I did my first triathlon when I was 16 at the Southwater relays. 28 years later I will be competing in Ironman Austria 2016. I have always found training as my way to relax and wind down from the daily work grind. After training on your own things soon become a bit stagnant so after several clubs I decided to look into HTC, Living locally this made sense and after a few coached sessions I felt very welcome, even when you have been competing for twenty years it can be difficult to feel part of a team but there is a great atmosphere with all the members and coaches.

I have to date completed all distances in triathlon from sprint to long distance and six marathons. As you speak to other members this varies so much but everyone is treated the same as we are all just trying to improve or to complete our own goals. After a few months in the club the opportunity was asked of all members if anyone was interested in becoming a Level 1 coach. All I can say is what a great experience to complete the course with so many other athletes from around the country.

In part of the process I was asked why do I want to become a coach. I didn’t have to think too long on this as its something that all the coaches in the club can relate too, its about giving back and sharing the experience we have all had. It really is a good feeling to see that I have been a part of helping another athlete to achieve their goal. Don’t be shy click the Contact button in the top right and come and join us. See you at a race soon
